Jardinains Brick Breakout Game And Safe Download
JARDINAINS GAME (no adverts!) REVIEW
I've never been one for playing too many games on a PC but one game has been in my portfolio for many a year.
Recently I've had to reinstall a lot of programs, one of them being this Jardinains game. Basically, it's a knock-out-the-bricks-with-a-bat game, with the added twist of garden gnomes throwing down plant-pots at your bat which you have to avoid.
This time I was pleasantly surprised to find that it has had a complete makeover with many different styles of play, customisable bat and ball sizes, and is available for many different platforms, not just PC.
So many of the downloadable 'app' games come with irritable advertising that they're really not worth playing. Worse they'll nag you to buy 'tokens' to move on to the next level. Well, Jardinains isn't like that — it's shareware meaning it's free to download and play as long as you like and doesn't have the clutter of advertising. You can donate if you want to.
In the past, I used to run my own customised version of Jardinains with characters from the Harry Potter sequence substituting for the garden gnomes, and appropriate objects from the HP stories substituting for the Jardinains power-ups, and music scores from the HP movies substituting for the Jardinains musical scores. I haven't yet explored the possibility of doing something similar with the latest Jardinains incarnation, and anyway it wouldn't be something I could put in the public domain due to obvious copyrights.
I'd recommend this game for children aged 3 to 125. Best played on a PC, but does work well on an Android phone, the larger the screen, the better, I'd say.

So, that's my review. Have you got an ad-free game you love?
Amazon Kindle Fire HD 8th Gen - Will Not Connect To Internet
What was happening was that the Kindle HD found the correct network to connect to, the correct password was being entered into the device from the rear of the Plusnet Hub, the Wifi on the Kindle settings was showing 'Connected' then briefly 'No Internet'. I suspect an app may have got its knickers in a twist and been closing the connection as soon as it was made - I'm really not sure. So to get around the unknown cause ....
... it was RESOLVED.
This is a last resort, as you lose all settings, and downloaded apps.
Before starting, you will need the registered Amazon email address you use for the Amazon account, and the associated password.
Press the power button and the volume up switch together for up to 40 seconds.
The device will start to reboot.
The device stops with some text on the screen.
Use the sound up/down buttons to navigate to the required option (in this case 'reset device'), and the power on/off switch to launch that option.
An orange screen comes up and you then have to select country and language options, followed by Amazon email address and password in order to register the device.
You will need those to next go to the Amazon store to download the apps you want on the device.
If you are unsure what apps you had on the device, Amazon will have kept a record of the most recent apps downloaded in the last 6 months.

Does the Kindle HD 8 work with Chromecast?
I have installed APKs on my Amazon Fire HD 8 for :
a. Google Play Services app APK
b. Chromecast app using an APK
c. Google framework app APK
d. Google Play Store app APK
After powering down Kindle HD 8, and booting up again, I have icons on Home screen for APKPure, [Chromcast]Home, Play Store.
I have verified via my PC that the Chromecast device is properly working and can cast from PC to TV.
When I tap “Chromecast Home” icon on Kindle Home screen, the screen momentarily flashes with, I assume, the main page for Chromecast, then I am once again back on the tablet Home screen.
I can see no way to activate anything on the Kindle Fire HD 8 to make it send pictures etc to the tv.

Good fun to begin with, but now forced closure
Day 1. Nice touch to be able to choose from a choice of three different speed controls, and different track views. Ad supported, but doesn't get in the way of speed control of the car. In edit mode aim to finish on a straight. TBH it took a bit of time to figure out how to move the car (its on the right hand side), but works well on this Smartpadv10.
Day 2. Now getting forced closures after opening splash screen.
Day 3. Uninstalled the app, restarted system, and downloaded once again. This time the app opens okay, and am able to race. So, I wonder if the problem of forced closure has something to do with the track that I edited and saved on Day 1? Just a thought.

This is quite a useful page. Just copying and pasting this guy's code got Facebook or Blogger commenting form onto my several blogs, and actually looks quite nice.
